Woodland Tour Volunteering
Guides’ Guide: Woodland Tour
Dates: May 2011
Sessions: There will be two sessions per day – 9:00 to 11:00 AM, and, 12 Noon to 2:00 PM.
Duties: The purpose of the guides is to safely lead/direct the groups of 5th grade students from the tour staging location (near the parking lot) to their beginning station and on through all six stations.
Ideally, the School Teachers/Staff/Parents bringing the students will have their groups divided into six separate groups. As the students arrive and get off their buses, the guides will assist Yamhill SWCD staff in taking to the corresponding groups from the other schools. There will be numbered signs, so everyone should be able to find their group.
Once the students have all gathered, a horn will blow and the guides take their groups to their particular station. The students will spend approximately 20 minutes at each of the six stations. The instructors are volunteers working for various agencies, each with expertise in the area(s) in which they will be covering.
At the end of each period, a horn blows and the guides lead the students on to the next station. After all six stations have been visited, the students are led back to the parking area and board their buses for departing.
Guides and their instructors are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to the first tour session. There will be doughnuts and coffee available as of 8:30 AM. Arriving early will provide an opportunity to see the site and meet the Yamhill SWCD staff, instructors and other volunteers involved with the Woodland Tour.
Lunch will be served from 11:00 to Noon.
Thank you!!!!!
