Workshops & Tours
The District provides free workshops and tours throughout the year on emerging topics of interest for landowners. These workshops usually focus on recommendations for best management practices and how to apply them to your property. When we host tours, we take people to project sites to experience what kinds of innovative practices are being implemented throughout the county and how they would be able to implement similar projects.
Our next workshop will focus on horse management. District Associate Director, Pat Fitzgerald, will be hosting this event at his farm and discussing manure management, pasture management and water conservation strategies as they apply to horses.
The most recent tour we hosted occurred in September 2010. Its focus was on water conservation. We toured 4 sites that had implement practices such as rainwater harvesting, solar pump micro irrigation, and the Miller Woods floating island.
